Rules & Procedures
Gameplay
- 2 games going on at once at opposite ends of the full court.
- Each time is allowed 2 minutes of warm-up before the game – if time permits
- Each game will be played over (2) 10 minute halves with running time and a 2 minute halftime break.
- Each team gets (1) 1-min timeout per game.
- Substitutions can occur after any stoppage of play with referee approval.
Scoring
- 1’s and 2’s to keep it simple -- baskets are worth 1 point, baskets made beyond the "three point line" are worth 2 points.
Overtime
- If the score is tied at the end of the 2nd half, there will be a 2-minute overtime period to be played immediately.
- If the score is still tied at the end of the first overtime period each team will receive a tie.
Possession/Violations
- A coin toss will occur at on the foul line to start each game to determine possesion.
- We’ll tape a line behind the top of the key and all possession changes will need to take the ball behind this line to allow scoring.
- If you stand too long under the basket, the refs will call you for a 3-second violation.
- The ref will hand the ball to be passed in after each foul is called or the ball goes out of bounds.
Fouls
- Don’t hurt each other out there – the refs will be on point!
- Defensive fouls will result in offensive possession – even if the offense is fouled while converting a basket.
- Defensive fouls within the last minute of the game will result in one free throw.
- Offensive fouls will result in defensive position – if the offense converts, the basket will not count.
- Technical fouls will result in two free throws.
- 4 individual fouls and you’re out of the game.
Uniforms/Dress Code
- No jewelry is allowed during play. If one cannot remove said jewelry, the player’s eligibility to participate in the game will be under the discretion of the ref.
- Teams are required to wear uniforms – no exceptions. This makes it easier on our refs, scorekeepers, players – and it prevents injuries.
- Get creative! We encourage all teams to print up their own t-shirts though a local print shop or through Custom Ink.
Note: Space is limited. Per our mission, teams representing non-profit organizations will be given priority slotting in the league. Please contact info@noprosports.org for more information.
